We know that all co-ops are cool. After all, what could be cooler than enhancing your classroom learning by gaining real world experience in your field? But OCEA is looking for Ohio’s Coolest Co-ops.
Students: show us how your co-op was cool – the cool people you met, the cool perks you received, or the cool projects you worked on. Here’s one example to get you started.
Mars Science Laboratory

During my Six months at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena California, I had the opportunity to work in the Planetary Sample Acquisition and Handling Group. I worked with the testing of some of the subsystem testing for the instrumentation that will go on the Mars Science Laboratory, set to launch in 2011. I had the opportunity to work with a testbed robotic arm and drill, as well as becoming clean-room and Cryogenics certified. I also had the opportunity to become familiar with environmental chambers and the design that goes into some of the tests. I got to see cool things all the time, and seldom was one day the same as another! It isn’t every day that you get to say things you worked on are going to Mars!
